“The society-state into which you are born should speak out for reform, even just for liability of your birth. In any process, you will continue to do so. Make use of as many strategies as necessary. As long as no one grabs your throat. If you say something, you can get into various troubles, but refraining from protesting is just a trick to avoid the responsibility of your birth.”

ABOUT ME
I have been a Bangladesh-based journalist for the last 15 years. I am working for the Dhaka-based English daily New Age as Senior Staff Correspondent since May 2012 while I am working as Bangladesh Correspondent for the USA-based BenarNews, a news service affiliated with Radio Free Asia, since 2021. I wrote several hundreds of stories and features on every big event and issue in Bangladesh in my 15-plus years in journalism. I uncovered many corruption issues including one of the country’s major banking sector scams— the BASIC Bank loan scandal. I won an award named SUJF Journalist Award 2020 for my contribution to journalism. Formerly I was a Staff Correspondent of Daily Manabkantha, a Bangla daily, and Weekly Budhbar, a now-defunct political tabloid, and Reporter of Daily Amader Somoy, a Bangla daily.
I love working with the rights of journalists and media workers. With an aim to work on it, I founded a voluntary platform named ‘Our Media Our Rights’ in December 2019. The platform is working to protect journalists and promote journalism. It was the only platform in Bangladesh that collected data of Covid-19 infected journalists and media workers. I am also working as a Regional Contributor to the Geneva-based Press Emblem Campaign (PEC).
I am actively involved in professional community bodies. Currently, I am serving as the President of Reporters Against Corruption-RAC, a Dhaka-based organization of investigative journalists. I am also a permanent member of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU), Bangladesh Parliament Journalists Association (BPJA) and Reporters of Election and Democracy (RFED).
